We all want a comfortable, safe place to gather with family
and friends to dream about our futures and plan out today’s
memories in the making. Wilcox Construction, Inc. understands
those needs. “When John [Wilcox] constructed my own
personal home, I was always impressed with the manner in
which he did the work. He takes pride in his work, and built
my house with the same concern I would have if I had been
constructing the home myself,” stated Marlon Bird,
a very satisfied home buyer. John’s father, John Sr.,
Taught him not just to get the job done, but to get the
job done right. And right means taking personal interest
in the smallest details to make sure there is quality every
step of the way.
John’s dedication to quality, his emphasis on detail,
and his commitment to customer satisfaction have earned
him numerous awards, including 1991 and 1996 Builder of
the Year (as voted by his peers) and the People’s
choice award for homes in the1990, 1992, 1993, 1995, 1997,
and 1999 Parade of homes.
Wilcox Construction specializes in luxury homes with an
array of custom features: pools (indoor or out), water slides,
indoor sport courts, climbing walls, elevators, movie theatres,
soda shops, pubs, “ski rage”, spas and much
more. Although he mostly builds custom homes, John has built
a number of professional offices and other commercial projects,
many of them second- and third-time projects for clients,
who have become his personal friends. John enjoys building
luxury homes and spends most of his time in that market.
“I like to get involved in the design process and
work along with the homeowner and architect in designing
the home. I’ve had enough experience that I think
my expertise is valuable there, he states. “It’s
nice to involve a landscape architect up front. We’ll
actually walk the lot and get a topography done. And then
we’ll design the house to fit the lot and topography.”
The Home Builders Association has given John many opportunities
for service. John served as president of the State of Utah
Home builders Association in the year 2000. John has been
a member of the Home Builders Association for 15 years and
has served on the board of Directors for 10 of those years.
His involvement in the association also includes being president
and first vice president of NWHBA, state and national director,
chair of the Building and Membership Committees Governmental
Affairs, UBC, and Parade of Homes Committees. John has dedicated
a lot of his time to improving the industry and working
with government affairs. For the past nine years, he has
gone to the capitol weekly while the Legislature is in session.
He has been active in his community, is a member of the
Chamber of Commerce, has served as a Scout Master for many
years, and always volunteers his time, giving of himself
to others.
John strives to not only meet, but to exceed code requirements
in all aspects of construction. Wilcox Construction works
with companies on the cutting edge of technology and conservation
energy efficiency in order to offer clients the most affordable
energy options available.
John believes that customer service is very important, as
most of his business come from word-of-mouth and by referrals
from people whom he’s done work for. Therefore, he
works closely with each homeowner, even after the one-year
warranty, to make sure that they are satisfied and happy.
John takes the time yearly to go to at least two national
Board meetings and the National Builders Show to make sure
that he is using the latest innovations and technologies
available in all aspects of home building. Having received
the NWHBA “People’s Choice” award six
times in the past 12 years, no builder ranks higher in customer
satisfaction.
Customer service is not just a slogan with Wilcox Construction,
it’s a way of life.
